Sónia was awarded a Marie Curie grant and went to Brisbane, Australia, for her post-doc with Prof. David Craik – NMR and Protein Structure in Drug Design from the University of Queensland.

24-27th May 2008

11th Naples Workshop on Bioactive Peptides, Naples, Italy

Prof. Miguel was invited to present a Lecture; Henri, Manuel and Marta also attended this meeting and presented their work.

1-31st July

Marta will be in Gerona (Spain) learning how to synthesize small peptides in the group of Prof. Eduard Bardají -Laboratori d’Innovació en Processos i Productes de Síntese Orgànica.

33rd FEBS Congress and 11th IUBMB Conference, Athens, Greece

Prof. Miguel was invited to participate as a member of the Education Committee of FEBS. Manuel will be attending.

Grunenthal Award in Pain Research (edition 2008), Portugal

Marta Ribeiro, Miguel ARB Castanho and Isaura Tavares (Oporto) were awarded with the Grunenthal Award concenrning their development in: "Leading Kyotorphin derivatives to the central nervous system: experimental validation of a novel analgesic molecule"

 2011

Courses Organization 

Miguel ARB Castanho and Physical Biochemistry Group organized the short-course Improving Technology Transfer from Academia in Translational Medicine (24-25 March) under the EC-FP7 Marie-Curie IAPP actions of the Pain Project.

Miguel ARB Castanho with Nuno Santos and Brazilian collaborators went on a Biochemistry Educational Initiative in under-developed Brazil regions (September)

Young Scientist Forum-FEBS, Torino, Italy, June 2011 - João Miguel Freire was awarded with a travel grant to participate on YSF and on the 36th FEBS congress where his work on Dengue virus was selected for an Oral Communication

22nd American Peptide Symposium, San Diego, USA, June 2011 - Miguel ARB Castanho was invited to present the work on Dengue Virus that is being done on his lab.

22nd American Peptide Symposium, San Diego, USA, June 2011 - Marta Ribeiro, Henri Franquelim and Sónia Henriques were awarded with the travel grant to participate at the Symposium.

EMBO Practical Course, Debrecen, Hungary, August 2011 - João Miguel Freire was Selected to participate on the EMBO Practical Course: Studying protein-protein interactions by advanced light microscopy and spectroscopy, and was awarded with tan EMBO travel Grant.

I2P - Ideas to Products, RWTH Aachen, Germany - COTEC, June 2010 - Marta MB Ribeiro, Henri G Franquelim, Isa Serrano and Miguel ARB Castanho ranked 2nd in the COTEC European Competition with the M-GATE product.

Gordon Research Conference on the Chemistry & Biology of Peptides, Ventura, CA, USA, March 2010 - Sónia T Henriques a travel award to attend the conference and won the Poster Prize.
